"Not long ago I completed a book on my father's history.  I relied a lot on Virgil Murray for his knowledge of ways to research and am grateful for his help.  I plan to hire him again when I start my mother's relatives."

A well known author of arizona history was preparing a book concerning the life of John Henry  "Doc" Holliday.  Knowing that Doc had lived in Dallas he asked Virgil Murray, who lived in the area, to see what he could find.  Murray discovered many interesting facts about the man in local archives.  He was fascinated by how many records still existed from the 1873 period and how each discovery leads to other places to look.  The author was very pleased with Murray's work and credited him by listing his contribution in his book "John Henry".

His story form of research led to his being published in The Tombstone Epitaph.  His interest in research was kindled and he went on to do much traveling and looking into lives of other 1880's characters such as Billy the Kid, John Wesley Hardin, Warren Earp and the like.

And again his research led to other publications.  His findings and published article on Warren Earp led to another author to do a book, on Earp, crediting Murray as his inspiration to do so.

To further his knowledge of how to research, Murray became a member of  the following:  Western Outlaw and Lawman's Association, Cedar Creek Writers Guild, Texas Research Foundation, The Henderson County (Texas) Historical Society, and the like.  He was later appointed to the Henderson County Historical Society.

People seeing his thorough work in locating information soon asked him to find details regarding their family history.  Those employing him in such a capacity have been well pleased with his reasonable fee and the results.  Murray is ready to go wherever needed to complete his task and has traveled extensively in this effort.
